In the project LYDREISE, the audience is invited into a musical journey in three parts that explores our memory of sound and music. Through three concerts with three different ensembles you may follow the development of a musical work in three movements – with a very long time passing between each movement! The lineup is expanded with one musician for each concert: first solo, then duo, and finally trio. The project will be presented in four different venues around Innlandet: Harpefoss hotell in Sør-Fron, Klevfos Industrimuseum in Løten, Rendalstunet in Rendalen and Galleri Tøysentralen in Tolga.

LYDREISE is a collaboration with Musikk i Innlandet.

  • SOLO (May / June 2024)

    Sigurd Hole - double bass

  • DUO (September / October 2024)

    Helga Myhr - hardanger fiddle

    Sigurd Hole - double bass

  • TRIO (June 2025)

    Frode Haltli - accordion

    Helga Myhr - hardanger fiddle

    Sigurd Hole - double bass

The first part will be performed in May and June, with music for solo double bass. The second part is a duo with Helga Myhr on Hardanger fiddle, happening in autumn 2024. In June 2025 the third and final part will be performed, with Helga and me forming a trio with Frode Haltli on accordion. Different themes and textures will be explored and developed through the three ensembles and movements to create coherence and wholeness. Some parts of the music will be composed with a high level of detail, while others will contain improvisation to greater or lesser extent.

Every sound, and our experience of it, never comes back exactly as it was. But we carry forever the memory of the sound. How well do we remember what we've heard?

LYDREISE seeks to challenge our listening habits. Modern technology makes it possible to listen to the same music, the same sound, over and over again whenever and wherever we want. Perhaps we've become a little spoiled. The music in LYDREISE will probably be played again, but never exactly as it appears this first time. And will not be recorded and released! This is an exclusive experience in every way. You can't press play or skip to the next song - you have to join the journey!

You choose whether you want to buy tickets for all three concerts right away. Such a "round trip" ticket can be used for all concerts in that same location, and it also gives free admission to the concert series LABORATORIUM at Sørum farm in Stange, where I have my workplace. In LABORATORIUM I invite musicians and audiences to open rehearsal concerts in the process of making new works. Such concerts will be arranged both with the duo and trio parts of LYDREISE, the first happening already May 8th with Helga Myhr.
