LABORATORIUM

LABORATORIUM is a new concert series set at my workplace, where I will invite musicians to try out ideas I am working on in new and not yet finished compositions. We will rehearse a few hours that same day, and then perform a concert to try out some of the ideas live. This will give both the musicians and the audience a sneak peek into my work and the creation of the music. To me, it will be of great value to both get feedback from the musicians and also performing some of the music in front of an audience at this point in the process, before heading back to the work bench and finishing the work over the next few months (premiere is October 20th).

This first LABORATORIUM concert will feature a glimpse into the new commission Extincion sounds that I am composing for the festival TronTalks. Musicians invited to the lab are (the music is written as a double bass concerto for a chamber ensemble of a total of ten musicians, only a few of which will be present at this lab concert)

Tanja Orning - cello, Jon Balke - piano, Torben Snekkestad - sax/trumpet, and myself on the double bass.
