New year!

Hope you have had a great start to 2025! After a long Christmas holiday, I have started the year by participating in Musikk i Innlandet's festival INNPULS in Gjøvik, where I - working as an artistic adviser for MII - was the curator of a sound installation by Hans and Rasmus Kjorstad. I also hosted a conversation with Bjørn Kruse about the concept of culture. Very inspiring to be part of both these events - and so nice to meet musicians and composers from all over Innlandet and other places!

Now I am in full swing with several artistic projects that will be developed and realised during 2025, here is a little insight into what I will be doing during the year.

NEW MUSIC AND CONCERTS

After a successful album release with "Extinction sounds" at the end of 2024, I am now composing several new musical works. First out is an adapted version of "Roraima" commissioned by the wonderful Trondheim Soloists. The 1st performance will be in Trondheim on Friday 4 April. I'm really looking forward to this! With me on stage are also Frode Haltli and Helga Myhr from the original line-up.

Furthermore, at least three other works will be completed during the year:

1) "Lydreise part 3" - new music for trio with Helga Myhr and Frode Haltli. World premiere in June, four concerts in collaboration with Musikk i Innlandet. More info here.

2) "Requiem for a Star - Cosmic Soundscapes of Destruction and Creation". New work for string quartet and double bass in collaboration with CIKADA String Quartet. World premiere and tour autumn 2025.

3) "5 pieces for 20 fingers" - new work for four-handed piano, written for Gunnar Flagstad and Kristin Fyrand Mikkelsen. World premiere in the concert series Morgenkonsert.

SOLO AND TRIO CONCERTS

In addition to these projects, there will be trio concerts with Trygve Seim and Frode Haltli and several solo concerts during the year. First up are trio concerts in the barn at my workplace Sørum farm on Saturday 22 March (tickets coming soon!) and at Kampenjazz in Oslo on Sunday 23 March. In December, there will be something as rare as Christmas concerts with solo double bass! More info about this later - it's still a while until it's Christmas again🎅

PS: if you are a concert organiser and think any of these projects may sound interesting, please feel free to get in touch!

GREAT REVIEWS FOR EXTINCTION SOUNDS!

After the release on November 15th, EXTINCTION SOUNDS has received several great reviews from both Norway and abroad. Here are some excerpts:

"Hole grapples with our ecological future with
not just beauty, but the profound uncertainty that is
warranted by our ongoing environmental crisis"
David Bruggink, AllAboutJazz

“Exitinction Sounds by Sigurd Hole uniquely preserves the composed loss of sound worlds, becoming a mourning
music of its own.”
Martin Hufner / Neue Musik Zeitung

“Beautiful and multifaceted"
 Arild R. Andersen / jazzinorge.no

“Ein Mesterwerk"
Claus Volke / horen-und-fuehlen.de

“Wonderful!"

Lars Mossefinn / Dag og Tid

“Predominantly contemplative, but of great intensity"
Harry Schmidt / Jazzthetik

I will be very happy if you would like to buy my music in physical format! It is possible to order both CDs and vinyls of EXTINCTION SOUNDS and other releases from my Bandcamp site.
